Green Cone now available from Original Organics
We’re pleased to introduce the Green Cone Waste Digester to our range of environmentally friendly products.

Green Cone
The Green Cone is the ideal substitute for people who want to dispose of food waste in an environmentally friendly way who have no use for the fantastic compost or nutritious liquid feed produced by a Wormery.
The Green Cone is part buried into the ground and uses the benefits of solar energy to facilitate and encourage bacterial digestion of food waste. The waste is reduced to water with a small amount of carbon dioxide and a little amount of residue which need only be collected and disposed of every few years.
More information about the Green Cone and an FAQ can be found on the Green Cone page of our website.
The Green Cone is available for just £66.95 with £5.95 Delivery.

Just a quickie to say we’re now proudly stocking the brand new book by International Downshifting Week founder, Tracey Smith. Entitled “The Book of Rubbish Ideas”, the 144 page paperback gives you an insightful room-by-room tour of the household and is full of great ideas helping you to reduce, recuse and recycle!
Tracey also recommends our Wormeries and Waterbutts in the Book, which is available now from our website priced at £6.99 (with free P&P!).

Introducing The CompoSphere
It’s usually exciting here at Original Organics but right now it’s particularly exciting. I am writing this from the hotel bar where we are staying during the GLEE Trade Exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham (yes, another exhibition – more on that later!).
It’s a particularly special GLEE because tomorrow we’re launching our brand new product, a brilliant new composter, The CompoSphere.
The CompoSphere is really something we think is quite special. We’re into composting here at Original Organics you see. In fact, we think we know a thing or two about composting and The CompoSphere is something that we have had in the making (top secret project!) for a little while – so I’m really happy that it’s ready for launch. We now have the moulds up and running and the first batch we have run have been really quite something.
… and, because I would rather get an early night than sit up waiting until midnight to press the button, The CompoSphere is now available to buy on our website (precisely 2 hours and 56 minutes before launch day – shhh don’t tell anyone).
So, now it’s even more fun to make your own garden compost!
Night all!

Designer Butt : As seen on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross
Did anyone see “The Butt Waterbutt” on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross last Friday?
We’ve been thinking about whether or not we should offer The Butt for sale on our Water Butts Direct site and it’s caused a bit of a stir. We do aim to have the biggest and best range of Butts (almost every one made!), but the office seem to be quite divided about whether or not “The Butt – Butt” is something a respectable company like ours want to be selling!
I’ve got to admit – I can see the funny side. As a functional garden novelty item, I think there are certainly people out there who would opt for such an ‘alternative’, err… Butt.
I think we probably will end up offering them shortly, via WaterButtsDirect. So – if you do want one – keep your eyes peeled. Do feel free to drop by our forums, or comment on this post, letting us know what you think of the Butt Butt Waterbutt - I’d certainly be very interested to hear your views!

Introducing the DroughtPlug!
“What’s that?” I hear you ask.
Well, it’s possibly one of the best innovations of 2006? The DroughtPlug Water Recycling Kit provides an ingenious method of recycling your bath water, or siphoning water out of your Waterbutt – easily and freely.
A white ‘DroughtPlug’ is provided which connects to most UK bath-plug fittings and connects to the hosing and hand-pump siphon provided when you purchase the kit. From there you can connect any standard hosepipe (with a standard hose-connector) and away you go! Simply throw the hose out of the window, activate the flow and recycle your bath-water, saving water, helping the environment and saving money on your water bills too!
You can also connect the DroughtPlug Kit to your Waterbutt by connecting to the tap, or simply by submerging the end of the siphon hose inside. The easy-to-use siphon is hand-pumped and starts the flow of water through to the hose. The DroughtPlug is also available seperately, if you’d prefer to go siphon-less and use suction-power to initiate the flow.
We’ve secured an initial consignment of DroughtPlugs and Kits and have introduced them to our range at a special, introductory price of just £17.99! For more information, you can find the DroughtPlug on our website, or on WaterButtsDirect - our sister site.
Happy Siphoning!

The Leaf Mould Compost Bin is here!
As mentioned on this Blog last week and new for Autumn, we’re pleased to announce the return of the popular Leaf Mould Composter! Turn your autmn leaves into a high-quality leafmould compost – and without clogging up your standard home compost bin!
Leaves can take anything from 1-3 years to rot down, and benefit from being exposed to the wind, rain and frosts. Our Leafmould Compost Bin is a circular black mesh with support canes – which provides the ideal conditions for the breakdown of leaves whilst keeping them all together. That is why a Leaf Mould Compost Bin from Original Organics is a very worthy investment to deal with your autumn leaves!
